After being a Miranda Lambert fan for almost five years, I finally got to see her in concert last night. In addition, I got to meet her before the show. I have to say that she's probably one of the nicest celebrities I've met. I'm pretty partial to Phil Sweet from LBT, since he called me sweetheart and gave me a hug, but Ran is a close second.
She opened with "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and ran through about half of "Kerosene" and nearly all (or maybe all??) of "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." I was slightly disappointed that she didn't sing "Greyhound Bound for Nowhere," but I survived. "Gunpowder and Lead" was probably the highlight of the evening, but "Kerosene" was awesome.
Near the end of the show, she invited everyone to gather around the stage, but I was in the middle of my section and couldn't get out fast enough. My pictures came out alright, but I really wish I could have stood by the stage for the last few songs.
The crowd was so-so in terms of excitement, but that's how it usually is at American Music Theater. As per usual, I was surrounded by people who don't like to dance. The same thing happened at the 2006 Gretchen Wilson show in York, so I'm used to it.
I pretty much freaked out when she sang "New Strings," since it's my favorite song. I always seem to like the random songs that an artist never sings in concert, so I was really glad that Ran had "New Strings" on the set list.
I met a few Ran Fans, all of whom were super nice. I didn't bring my actual concert ticket to the door, since I figured the Meet and Greet pass would be enough for me to meet her. My mom had the tickets in the lobby, and the ticket guy made me run back and get mine. So, I ended up being the last person in line for the Meet and Greet. So, I was like, "Well, I guess I'll be waiting in line for a while." But as luck would have it, Ran came in through the door closest to where I was standing, so I got to meet her first. It was a very surreal moment, but it was great. I can't wait until they post the pictures on her website.
Overall, I had a great evening. Hopefully, I won't have to wait another five years to see her in concert!
